Okay I was reading an article I read about Penn’s admissions process and they were talking about how some average students are admited just because they are a rarity in the major they want to go into. They gave an example of a girl who had a B- average and average SAT scores but she seemed passionate about an engineering major and they admited her on that because she was a girl wanting to go into engineering. So I’m wondering would being a girl and wanting to go into biochem and working towards med school help me the way it did this girl?

The premed major is not really unpopular for girls anymore, at many medical schools there are about the same amount of boys and girls. Also considering most people change their major and you would be at LSA, it is not really that binding towards that direction unlike the engineering school

Med schools are usually around 50% male and 50% female. Tech schools such as CalTech is around 70% male and 30% female. A engineering major may help you, but biochem major not so much.
