I read on Case’s website that pre meds can finish in three years. I was wondering how many people actually do that and if it is still possible to get a high GPA for med schools. I am closing in on my decisions (Case and UMich) and this would be useful information to know.
CWRU allows premeds to finish undergrad early, so in three years and just head to medical school faster.
It may not be the right plan for every student, but they will award a bachelors degree with less credits if
a student gets admitted to medical school in junior year.
You may want to call the premedical advisors at both UMich and Case if you have not made up her mind yet:
https://case.edu/ugstudies/pre-professional-programs/pre-health/
However the odds of being admitted to med school as a junior are very low - there keep in mind that nationally ~75% freshmen pre-med don’t make it or choose to do something else; of those remaining only 40% get admitted to even one med school; many successful are non traditional applicants (ie’, have taken a year or two after college to work in a clinical setting).
Currently, are you EMT? CNA? Have you shadowed a doctor?
My daughter completed her premed degree in 3 years but please check with an undergraduate advisor at Case before making your decision.
