Hi guys... I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the premed program at swat. This is for my friend, as i'm going elsewhere... any info would be appriciated

I'm not totally familiar with pre-med at Swat, but know the general info. Here is a link with detailed info:
http://www.swarthmore.edu/Admin/health_sciences/first_year_guide.html

There is not a "pre-med" major at Swarthmore. Many pre-med students major in biology, but you can major in classics and still be pre-med if you take all the courses required by med schools. There is a pre-med advisor who works with those aiming at going to medical school.

Swarthmore says it supports every student applying to medical school, as opposed to some colleges and universities which apparently only support those with high GPAs and test scores. In 2004 85% of the Swarthmore med school applicants were accepted somewhere, whereas the national average was less than 50%.

It was true 35 years ago and apparently still true today -- organic chemistry is one of the toughest courses in the pre-med schedule.

Organic chem is the toughest course anywhere i think!..A level organic chem is killing me. Seriosly who cares about the colour u get when u add 2,4- DNP to a carbonyl comound??

An example of what dadX3 is saying. My son's friend, graduated from Swat in '05, was an English major. He is currently a first year med student at a top notch medical school.
