Okay, so after applying to about 6 school through High School, this fall i will be atteneding Rutgers NB (as a freshman). It isnt a bad school by any means, but to be very honest, i was never excited about attending. So i decided to explore my options and apply around for transfers. I want to major in Economics, while being premed, and eventually go to med school. Will trasnfering hurt my acceptance into medschool in any way?

Here is my list:
Emory, UPenn, Georgetown, and UC Berkeley or UCLA (one or the other not both, i need help deciding this too lol).

I was wondering if somebody could fill me in on these schools. Do they have good premed programs? How does the grading system run, are grades deflated or anything? How easy is it to transfer here, what kinda of things should I Concentrate on?

Medical schools don't really care where you go to school or what you major in. You have a really great list of schools there. Just remember don't transfer just for the chance of medical school. It won't be that big a difference. The other thing to keep in mind is how medical schools operate when applying. Many public schools give an over whelming number of spots to in state kids, something to keep in mind when you're oos. The other thing is that medical schools will also like to know why you felt it necessary to leave your original school (usually won't play that big a part for you since you're transferring into good schools). Here's the website that gives you the numbers for medical school admits and percentages of oos vs is. It is astounding.

Transfering may hurt your chances for medical school if your GPA takes a nosedive at your new school. Like thinkandspeak says, the prestige of the school is not as big of a factor in admissions as GPA and MCATs.

You can major in anything you want and gain admittance to medical school. All they require along with good GPA and MCAT scores is that you fulfill all the pre-requisites. I do know a number of people who majored in economics and anthropology.
