Prep boarding school differences

Hi, we are starting to look at schools for 2012 school year and was wondering about any comments about differences in the group of 10 or MAPL schools. Was interested in insights into any distinguishing characteristics, differences and comparisons with the student body, competitiveness, diversity, clics vs. diversity, experiences visiting different schools, etc.. Thanks for any help!!

I can give you some comments on the Saint James School.

Hi Thanks very much. I’d be interested in some of your experiences with Saint James and other schools you considered. Just getting started and eyes are a bit glazed over. Thanks gain. /Kevin

Saint James was the only school we considered for our DS. He has thrived there , and has developed into a fine young man.
Many counselors say that Saint James is the boarding school where one doe snot feel they are away from home.

We went through this process last year with our daughter. We studied numerous schools, visited 7 and applied to 5. She ended up at St. Andrew’s School in Delaware. This school is frequently in the shadow of the more well known northeastern schools but it’s a real gem. We also really liked Berkshire and Hotchkiss but St. Andrew’s was the best place for her. Check out their website and watch their orientation videos then let me know if you have questions. The culture at St. Andrew’s is just really spectacular and what we believe sets it apart.
