Prep Book Help

so I have the complete Gruber's SAT prep book for 2012 and the BB,

my dad bought 2 kaplan books but I will never touch them again, since I realized that kaplan is kraplan after a few hours.

I have found Gruber's to be a very good book to study with. The 3,400 words are great, the suffixes and Roots might help alot(yet to go indepth in either), math is fantastic and have yet to look at reading and essay though.

anyway, I was wondering if I should need anymore study material. Yes, I have read the stickies. I have yet to take one practice test, going to do the online one on the CB website, then the BB, and then in Gruber's If I cannot find any online.

Math is great in grubers, there is no more math books i could think of that would be needed

but CR and writing are something I'm still working on

sat scores one June:
math 630
reading 600
writing 630(8 on essay)

I'm looking at The Rocket Review Revolution as a good choice

the best advice for writing is seeming to be this site.. silverturtle goes really indepth on the writing section grammar advice, CR is still very hard for me though

I skipped through Gruber's and saw that it had a pretty similar looking guide on grammar as silverturlte's

the reason why i'm asking it that I think I can get a very high score practicing the BB and Gruber's alone.. Gruber's might have been updated to be perfect studying since the book is 2012

sorry for a having a commonplace question that is probably asked more often than not in this sub-forum.

thanks

You wrote silverturtle silverturlte wrong… He will we mad lol

bewe …

no edit button sorry. typo, but could anybody shed some light on my question? I’m sorry for doing a common question and being to verbose.

BUMP

It’s not about the number of SAT books you have. It’s about the number of SAT books you use.

I mean “use” as in reading every page, understanding every page, and giving the book 110% of your attention.

I personally think that Gruber’s Complete SAT Guide paired with the BB is great! Gruber’s is great for critical reading, math, and writing.

Now, you must have the dedication to go through 2000+ pages of material :).

Yes I do have the dedication. I’m trying to get through it all before the October SAT.

I am a little worried about critical reading and writing. Gruber’s goes in-depth on both, but they go extremely in-depth in math

The writing review in the Gruber’s book is worth its weight in gold.

The problem is that Gruber’s doesn’t have enough writing practice problems. There are only 39 practice writing problems, which laughably pathetic …

If your writing is weak, make sure to read silverturtle’s guide and do his practice problems.

McGraw-Hill’s SAT book also has a superb writing review. But in this book, there are well more than a mere 39 writing practice problems :p

Good luck on the October SAT :)!

P.S. For the CR section, my posts on this thread may be useful:

Silverturtles guide nails the grammar section. However for extra help, visit Sparknotes, and that’s all you need. You don’t need fancy books for the grammar section, nor do you need it for the critical reading section.

Math, you might need Chung or Gruber, whatever fits your score range.

IceQube has good tips, read them.

^Sparknotes? I never knew they had a grammar guide! Thanks for bringing it to my attention, nothingto :)!

Is Sparknotes better than Barrons or McGraw Hill?
