Prep School Safety?

These schools are very small, so be careful with personal opinions @Orangami -The acceptance rate for both of these schools was super low last year. MX had over 1200 applications for 100 spots (approx 10% depending on how close to yield they offered) and SMS had over 800 applications for 96 spots. As far as SSAT, I personally know a kid who had a 99% overall who was WLd and they had many other “hooks”, so to speak. As @gardenstategal mentioned earlier, all of the schools you applied to are very selective.
I’d rather you go in well-informed with your original question answered than cling to personal opinions.

Still pulling for you, though!!! Good luck!!

^^agree, and lots of full pay kids who are exceptionally qualified get turned away and or put on WL’s. It’s overstated and I think people want to believe that if “I had just been full pay” I would have gotten in. These schools have such big endowments and donor bases, they choose who they want and who they think will be successful in the college admissions business and in life.

Boarding School Review lists the acceptance rate at Middlesex as 18% and about 27% or 28% for St. Mark’s.

Neither are safety schools.

Like I said, you should take schools that have a high acceptance rate and an average SSAT score much lower than your own as safeties.

Govs, my match school, had an acceptance rate of 20ish %, and an average SSAT score of 83%ile, 16 percent below mine
