Well, I imagine Exeter must feel a tad snubbed.
They listed St. Mark’s School of Texas.
When many users list reasons why they want to go to PEA for STEM, they often cite Zuming Feng.
Well, he quit PEA and is now at St. Mark’s.
Yes.
I suspect that PEA would like to think that there was more to their STEM program and its reputation than Xuming.
I suspect PEA would like that as well. It’s the rest of the world outside the Exeter bubble that PEA needs to convince.
I am guessing I am not the only one outside of that bubble who has never heard of Zuming Feng? I had to google him. Sounds like he is well known at Exeter and in math Olympiad circles?
That’s about it. And there are a lot of very successful STEM people who weren’t mathletes.
I confess……I could barely pass “sadistics”! ……but that was back in the day where you had to do colons and backslashes for every command. Does anyone learn FORTRAN anymore?
I miss the good ole days with a mimeograph machine and the BASIC system that came with the coupler.
BTW……does anyone know where you can buy that mimeograph ink?
No. Not do they use punch cards.
But I read about them in my History of CS class.
My first research job was using punch cards! That is how old I am! But poor @skieurope you never new the fun of smelling mimeograph paper! Better than (name the accelerant here).
That brings back memories. I once worked in the computer room at Rhone Poulenc and part of my job was sorting and inserting FORTRAN cards, in addition to making sure the roomful of massive dot matrix printers didn’t all jam at the same time.
Ahhhhh, memories.
Or learning to decipher those smeared purple words.
Punch cards…. I remember filling a large brown paper grocery bag with the “chads,” inserting the open end under someone’s door, and jumping on the bag. Good times, indeed.
Another news story about IMG Academy….
Sex On The Beach, indeed.
Update on SPS and their monitoring/accountability program. There was a news story about this but I couldn’t link the Patch.com story here. So, I am providing a source. Interesting monitoring/oversight program with the NH DOJ
