I took my first sat in june and got a 720 math, 640 cr, and 650 writing. I plan on taking it two more times and need help for critical reading. What is the best way to improve my score and please tell me which method you used and how it worked out. Also, is memorizing vocabulary worth it? Thanks!

I think memorizing vocab. is definitely worth it…try using Direct Hits Volume 1 &2. Just highlight the words you don’t know and concentrate on memorizing those. Also, rocketreview is really good for CR-lots of great tips and strategies.

thanks i will definitely look into direct hits. how did that work for you? and what do people mean when they say “hit”? is that a word that simply appeared on an sat, but wasn’t necessarily an answer or is a word that turned out to be the answer?

I think it’s a word that appeared on the SAT. Yeah, that’s why I like direct hits; you don’t memorize a bunch of words for nothing b/c there’s like an 80% chance that at least 7-10 of them will show up as answer choices. It worked pretty well for me considering the two times I took the SAT, I got 1 and 0 vocab. questions wrong respectively.

thanks a lot for the advice, i think i will buy those books.
