President Obama praises Ohio State engineering program in his radio address to the nation! :)

Quote:

"I was at Ohio State University, where they've developed the fastest electric car in the world. That's the future."

President Obama visited campus March 22, to discuss American energy: “This school is a national leader in developing new sources of energy.”

Well Sparkeye, I was trying to think of some wisenheimer crack to make but upon reflection I am sure tOSU deserves the recognition. Keep up the good work! Now if only the engineers at tOSU could figure out why the mathematic formula of the Big 10 always equals 12, or was it 11?

^^ Thanks for the recognition, LakeWashington!! :p

Now I can shamelessly post this short follow-up video clip of the event!!

In short, the only number that matters to me right now is “4,” as TOSU will take on the 'Cuse tonight for the spot in the FINAL FOUR!! Go Bucks!!! lol~

The first stop on President Barack Obama’s campaign tour is Ohio State,…

Go Bucks!! :)

Big, big battleground state.

old news (January for Michigan), indeed… & btw, we didn’t (March) and won’t (May 5th visit with the First Lady) hand him a freebie (honorary degree) in order for him to come for the speech & praised Ohio State’s Engineering Program in his radio address to the nation… :p

*First Stop/I on President Barack Obama’s campaign tour!! Go Bucks!! :)

novi, I wonder how much time Michigan spent selecting just-the-ever-so-right-ethnic-mix of students with Michigan t-shirts to stand directly behind Obama?

Electric cars are fine…but where are we gonna get the electricity? They aren’t that green with rare earth metal mining from China and lifetime of 6-8 years.

Oh my, now that I actually click the links and realized his Michigan visits were “2 years” apart, whereas Ohio State visits are “2 months” apart!! lol

Above all, the topic for tOSU was the “Renewable Energy,” whereas the topic for Michigan was… “College Affordability.” He sure chose these two respective schools for the right reasons… :D

I heard that tOSU did try to give Obama an honorary degree, he refused. ;-)

“novi, I wonder how much time Michigan spent selecting just-the-ever-so-right-ethnic-mix of students with Michigan t-shirts to stand directly behind Obama?”

Diversity, diversity, diversity UCB…I would guess hours. ;-)

Yes Sparkeye, Obama visits U-M even when it’s not an election year.
;-)

Well, if the President did not mention it in his radio address to the nation, it simply did not happen! :p

I know. And you can simply go back and count all the years and the number of times that any President (Obama included) had visited tOSU, you will find that they simply love Columbus more than Ann Arbor… :)

Shhhh. It was a secret sparkeye. Obama needs all the votes he can get and didn’t want to **** off the electorate.

“I know. And you can simply go back and count all the years and the number of times that any President (Obama included) had visited tOSU, you will find that they simply love Columbus more than Ann Arbor.”

Hmmm. You don’t think by any chance it has anything to do with the obvious fact that C-bus is the largest city in Ohio (since it keeps annexing land) and also the capital of the 7th most populous state?

Thank God I don’t live in a swing state. I get enough political ads for propositions. :)

The election is usually over before the polls close in California. ;-)

Well, Lansing (E. Lansing) has similar population as Ann Arbor, President Obama chose MSU over Michigan during his first campaign stop. So, it is not simply the largest city effect as is the case with Columbus, but as you mentioned, the political Capital effect for the state, and perhaps larger student bodies which translated into more impact.

I heard the arena had thousands of empty seats.

Ohio is a swing state

he’s trying to recapture the youth vote. It’s just as simple as that, nothing more, nothing less. There are great things to say about every university. Ohio State is the largest in Ohio, I believe…Michigan is also a huge university, but will probably be a blue state again. He was at VCU (Virginia is also a swing state). Don’t feel special.
