Presidential Fellows Program (Invite) 2022

Hey all,

On Bucknell’s website, it says that “eligible Class of 2022 Bucknell applicants will be invited to apply by mid-February via mail and/or email” to the Presidential Fellows Program, and my friend who applied ED2 recently got an email inviting him to apply to the Presidential Fellows Program (by February 15th). I was curious as to who else was invited to apply/what stats (GPA, SAT/ACT score, etc.) they looked for in this year’s applicants in order to be invited. So, if you did receive an invite please drop your stats and admission plan (curious if any RD applicants were notified yet) below.

Thanks!

@amz1717 When did your friend receive the email? I was told they were coming out this week. February 15 is not a lot of time to apply (write essays, etc.). Did your friend have very high stats? I applied ED2 (Engineering). 35 ACT, 1520 SAT, 3.75 UW GPA, Math 2: 770, Physics 1: 760. Good ECs and recommendations. I am NOT an URM, which I read is a factor (although not determinative) in eligibility.

@BisonCT He received it yesterday evening. I’m hoping they are coming out with them still because my stats are similar to his, if not better. His stats weren’t as high as yours, though: 1430 SAT, 4.44 W GPA, drum major of marching band and other good ECs and recommendations I’m assuming. He also isn’t URM, but I was not aware that URM played a factor–I thought more so need-based aid did. He applied as a math major though, I did engineering as well–I’m thinking that could also be a potential factor?

Ah, maybe need-based. That would take me out of the running because I don’t qualify for aid. Hope you get good news on the Fellowship and admissions. Did you apply RD?

@BisonCT I don’t think entirely, though, because he does not qualify for aid either. But yes, I applied RD. I wish you the best of luck as well!

I got the invite last night, applied RD. No URM, low financial need for me. 1550 SAT and 4.0 GPA.

@hirrixane79, by “low financial need” do you mean that you filed a FAFSA and qualified for some?

@BisonCT If I were to get financial aid, it would probably be south of $5,000 a year. So I doubt that this is a need-based scholarship, especially considering that it never mentions that in the materials online.

I’m sorry, but what is URM?

@hirrixane79 What was your intended major?

@amz1717 engineering.
