Well, just out of curiosity, considering the HOPE covers tuition and such things, what does the PS actually truly do besides cover the cost of the room? Trust me, I would be grateful to receive it, but I was just trying to figure out the true importance of it for in state students.

You get to spend a potentially life-changing week on a retreat with ~65 amazing people who will likely become some of your closest friends at Tech (this alone is worth the scholarship), in addition to priority housing, money to study abroad, a intro to tech class specifically for PS’s, advisement for prestigious scholarships, and access to a network of people who are leaders on campus. There are also little benefits, such as touring the library archives (they have a copy of Newton’s Principia among other amazing artifacts), luncheons with guest speakers, etc) There is certainly much more to the scholarship than the money; it is the people who truly make being a PS amazing.

For the top five in-state and top five out-of-state students there is additional study abroad and special projects funding as well as an additional retreat (in a very cool place-last year was the mountains of Canada).
