I've heard it's quite competitive. GW has a strong modern dance department. A couple of the professors there have won several honors and been featured in dance magazine and newspaper articles. Of course, a lot depends on who happens to try out each year. That can vary. Good luck.

Everyone I know that has received said scholarship are Ivy-caliber students. We are talking 4.0 GPAs and 2200+ SATs.

I'll be auditioning on Sunday for vocal music.

anyone know when they will release decisions for the presidential arts scholarship ?

Do you have to apply for the Presidential Scholarship or are all applicants reviewed?

yes, you have to apply for it. unfortunately, it's done already. did you apply to GWU as well?

I don't recall a separate application for the Presidential Academic Scholarship, which is different from the Presidential Arts scholarship that you need to audition for.

Does anyone know what specifically qualifies a person for the presidential academic scholarship??

i think it is the top 10% or so of the entering class. to give you an idea, my friend received one with a 33 act and i got one as well with a 2190 sat and 3.95 uw gpa.

I got one, and I definitely did not apply. Stats similar to natedawg.

yeah, forgot that. there was no separate application at all.

To those who received the Presidential Academic Scholarship already, where you Early Decision? Since RD isn't announced yet, if you haven't been told that you got this scholarship, are you completely out? Thank you.

How much is the Presidential Academic scholarship worth?

15,000 per year...as to the above poster, I applied regular and found out then so I don't know how early is affected. If you haven't gotten a financial aid offer yet, then you might not know until then because I was never formally awarded it, it just showed up on my financial aid offer.

Sorry for the confusion- I got in last year. I got my scholarship offer in the same packet with my acceptance. What a good surprise!

Harpomarx - were you RG or ED?

Regular decision
