pinkdaisy, with your grades and ECs if you didn’t get the scholarship, who did???

Does anyone have any idea what to expect during the interviews? How many finalist are brought to campus? From what I gather it looks like there will be fewer than 50.

@FLVADAD:

I did some research on Villanova’s website and found out that in 2008 they interview 1.5 times the number of scholarships they were giving (they gave 18 and did 27 interviews). I think in 2009 they increased the number of finalists to something like 40 or maybe even 50, but I think that there will likely be between 40-50 finalists this year. What is your take?

My guess is that it’ll be right around 40-45… Smart.cookie, have you received anything else about finalists week? Sort of weird that they sent out notifications without any info about the campus visit

^ I know! Flights are going to be really expensive by the time we receive enough information to actually book them :(

And no, I have not received anything about finalist’s weekend.

i got a call from the chair for vsb for the scholarship she asked for my email and was going to send info later so you guys prob will be getting a call at some point she said we stay with an older pres scholar for the 3 days if that helps and were supposed to be there Wed and leave Fri at like 830 PM

Yeah, we got a call and basically it’s like philly says. They indicated more info would be forthcoming early this week. Sounds like it’ll be a lot of fun, but right now we still have a lot of questions. Like, are there consolation awards for finalists who don’t get the scholarship? Not thinking negatively, but it’s a big investment of time and energy to possibly come away with nothing IMO. That’s why we were trying to figure out the odds somewhat. I guess 50% or so is about as good as anyone could expect. At several schools, the odds seem more like trying to win the lottery, LOL.

Hey guys,

I just got the finalist call a few days ago – I was caught completely off guard (I didn’t think to check MyNova after I was accepted EA, my bad…). I know people were wondering how many finalists there were so since I’m enough of a dork with apparently lots of free time, I counted, and it looks like there are 55.

Out of curiosity, are you guys planning on going to the EA Weekend? I know my contact said it might be difficult since we’ll be on campus the following weekend, but I technically only live about an hour away… (Jersey, and please - not Jersey Shore, haha)

I can’t wait to meet you all! (How far are you coming from?)

And since it’s pretty standard, here’s my stats (in all honesty, I’m shocked since it seems like they turned away some REALLY qualified people):

SAT Verbal: 680

SAT Math: 750

SAT Writing: 800
