I have already posted asking about UK scholarships but am now just looking for more information about the presidential scholarship (for non residents). Who from out of state has received a presidential scholarship? What were your test scores and GPA? Also, what kind of process do you go through to apply for and receive this scholarship?

Thanks for any help or information you have about it!

Same process as for Singletary (both are part of the “Competitive Scholarship” essays and interviews , you apply for and interview for all competitive scholarships at the same time). Students who receive interviews for the competitive scholarships are awarded the Singletary, Presidential, or no additional merit aid. UK gives generous automatic merit scholarships, so (in state and out of state) applicants should be aware of what they qualify for up front. If the applicant receives a competitive scholarship interview, there is an outside chance he/she could receive the Presidential or Singletary. Don’t know that there are numbers out on how many Presidential scholarships are awarded each year, but it is a small minority of students who receive the top scholarships (full tuition or full ride entirely), and most Singletary scholars are from KY (although not all). We’re out of state. Daughter was awarded the Presidential scholarship. 4.2 GPA, 33 ACT, Valedictorian with rigorous coursework, solid ECs, excellent essays. Personable and passionate. It sounds like the competition is incredibly steep for the top scholarships and even for Honors Program admission.

@kirby630 Hi. Just curious what are his stats and are you in-state or out-of-state? Also how long did it take between applying and being invited for an interview?

@blue652, DS is out of state and received a call for an interview about 3 weeks after his application. He has a 4.28 GPA/32 ACT. Also they gave the option to skype, but he wanted to visit again in person. Hope that helps.

@kirby630 Yes thank you! That’s good to know. So he is interviewing for the Singletary scholarship correct? I was told that’s the only one that requires an interview…
