does anyone know of any prestigious schools that allow cars starting from freshman year. please dont burn me on this. I am just trying to open up more options.
thanks in advance

Duke allows first years to drive

I didn't know that any colleges limit driving. I know that chicago, berkeley and ucla don't care.

Colgate allows cars for freshman. So does Rice. This is an issue for my S, too- and a subject of debate in our household.

Please clue me in on this, which colleges do NOT allow cars?

An overwhelming majority of schools do not allow freshmen to have cars on campus. The list of schools that do is definitely much shorter

Honestly you can get around many of these rules as long as you dont register your car. I NEVER did, it wasnt worth it. You can usually pay to park at an off campus house/ frat etc depending on where you go to school.

Harvard will allow you to have a car, but parking available to students is on a space available basis and is very limited. Most students who live on campus (which is nearly everybody) do not keep cars at school. The campus is very well served by mass transit.

:D

I'm looking for a campus that WON'T let you bring a car lol.

I'm a big supporter of public transportation. Unfortunately, coming from the Motor City, I'm a minority on that opinion around here...

Sinec your name is 'headedsouth'... Furman lets you have cars, but there aren't a whole lot of spaces open for freshmen so you'd have to hurry and be one of the first to sign up for it. Winthrop also lets you have cars I believe. And I seem to recall my AP English teacher (who is himself a graduate of Wofford) saying that Wofford has parking.

And Renin, go to UM... Nothing wrong with that lol.
