Prestigious?

I realize that Davidson is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 Liberal Arts Colleges in the USA, but, compared to every college in the USA, how prestigious is Davidson?

As far as applying for graduate school in possibly an Ivy League or a very well-known university, will the fact that I attended Davidson instead of Duke or UNC effect my chances of getting into a very competitive graduate school? Or is Davidson recognized by scholars, just not by the general public?

one last thing.. :P

Rank these colleges from best to worst:

Davidson
Duke
Johns Hopkins
William and Mary
UNC
Vanderbilt

I know hardly anyone is on Davidson's section here... but hopefully I get a few replies

If you are talking about prestige i will give you my honest opinion:
In the everyday world:
Johns Hopkins
Duke
Davidson
Vanderbilt
UNC
William and Mary

In the academic world

Johns Hopkins/Davidson
Duke
UNC
Vanderbilt
William and Mary

That being said, this all depends on your major. Also, this shouldn't really be a factor if you are choosing between these schools. They are all prestigious enough that how well you do is much more important. An A from Davidson means more than an A from Duke or Johns Hopkins, which may be important to you too. Davidson also has a crazy high acceptance rate to 1st choice grad schools and almost 100% acceptance to med school. In the end choose the school that feels right. My sister turned down many ivys for UNC and loves the school and will end up going to a phenomenal grad school because of the opportunities they gave her. This wouldn't have been possible if she was at and ivy because its and ivy where she didnt feel comfortable and passionate about the things she does.
