Hey guys! I just finished my junior year and I was wondering what my chances are to get into NYU, BU, Penn State,
Ivy Leagues (it might be an impossible reach) and Rutgers Pharmacy.
GPA at a good High School: Weighted=4.1 and Unweighted=3.4
Not the best SAT Score: 1990 (Superscored)
I'm taking the ACT in September and I'm hoping for at least a 31 (I took 2 practice tests and got a 32 for both).
SAT Subjects: Chemistry 710 (taking it again October), Math IIC 760
Clubs/Activities/Sports:
- Varsity Golf (2 years)
- Teens Against Cancer Club (3 years)
- Math League (2 years)
- Academic Decathlon (2 years)
- Project Patterson (3 years)
- Newspaper Club (2 years)
- Went to a Native American Reservation for the past 2 years over the summer
- National Honors Society for next year
- Peer Leader next year

NYU is a low reach because you fall just below the average SAT. Ivies are a very high reach unless you have a big hook. If you are Native American, that will drastically increase your chances

NYU is a slight reach, and Penn State will be also. Ivy leauge is way out of reach, but BU may be a match. If you are a URM your chances will go up drastically ( I’m talking big time). I’m not sure if your interested in Rutgers, but you would be a close match. You have decent stats just have some back ups Good Luck!

The College of Pharmacy is one of Rutgers’ most competitive divisions. Are you a NJ resident? What is your GPA? Your Math and Chemistry Subject Tests might compensate for the unspectacular (albeit respectable) SAT score. I’m sorry to say that I don’t see any Ivy League colleges in your future. What about Butler University? They supposedly have a good Pharmacy school. My son had similar stats to yours (SAT superscore=2070, after fall re-test; 31 ACT; very similar weighted/unweighted GPA), with stronger ECS, and he did not even consider applying to any Ivies.

Oops; I see that I asked about your GPA before checking original post. I need my coffee badly this morning. I will reiterate that you will need to look into many more realistic options.
