Prevalence of Drinking / Partying?

^ This picture (I screenshotted) was posted on a Penn State group today. Penn State was not my first choice, but I guess I will be attending (have to get on that whole "confirming admission" thing...). Is this really what it's like? Is Penn State a huge party school? Is the drinking impossible to avoid? It sounds awful, tbh. :/

I'll be in Schreyers, if that changes things.

Sigh.
That link is on photobucket, if you want to actually access it, but essentially it was a picture that said:
“Drink While You Think”
“sums up penn state pretty well #ILikeToTurnUp #ButITakeMyStudiesSeriously”

Yes, Penn State is a party school, but when is drinking ever impossible to avoid. You’re only going to be drinking if you choose to drink.

There’s lots to do at PSU. Drinking is one of those things, but there’s plenty of other stuff, too. No one is going to make you drink. And even the kids who do a lot of partying are for the most part serious about their studies.

Thank you for the responses.

Dont know how you got this far without knowing PSU is a party school. Its also one of the best Universities in the world at the same time. You dont have to, but a lot of honors college kids go out a lot too. A lot also don’t.

I didn’t think I’d have to go there before. It, along with Pitt, was my safety in case I didn’t get in to reach or even match. Which happened.

Thank you for your input
