Anyone know much about the preview? I found the link on UF's site but it hasn't updated yet (most info is for transfer/new students for spring '07)

Maybe one of you guys can answer these questions:
How long is preview? drive up for the day and go home at night? Or is it like an overnight thing?

If its overnight, where do students/parents stay?

Preview is an overnight thing. It starts at 8:00 am with check-in and finishes the following day at 5:00 pm with the confirmation of your class registration. The kids stay overnight in Broward Hall...parents at nearby hotels.

Its two days. Suppose you have your preview days on tuesday and wednesday. Depending on how close you live to gainesville, you will come into town on monday. Tuesday preview starts at 8 or 9am and ends at 8pm when you head back to broward to pick your schedule and sleep. Wednesday you start again at 8 or 9am and then you do tours, more presentations, pick your schedule, and last is the housing presentation 4-5pm and then that ends preview.

My friend is on preview staff for summer 2007, so you will see her.

so, do we stay at Broward for free? or do we have to pay a fee? also, do we get roommates during that one night stay? or do each of us get a room?

Yes there is a fee. When I went it was $79 but I heard it went up last year. You roommate is based on who come behind you to check in when you get to broward, so if you want to room with a friend then you need to go at the same time with them. Also you will either get a double or triple room, no singles.

When we went to Preview last May, it was $90 for my son, and we paid another $80 for three guests (Mom, Dad, sister). I think it was $40 for the first guest, and $20 for each additional guest. Maybe $30 + $25 + $25, I don't remember exactly.

The students' $90 included staying in Broward the first night. It also included a welcome snack table for breakfast, and lunch & dinner on the first day. On the second day, instructions said to bring your own cash for breakfast with your group in Broward dining, and for lunch with your group in the Reitz Union food court. (The instructions also said that if you need someplace to stay the night before Preview begins, you can request a room in Broward for the extra night. My son was with us the night before, at the Holiday Inn on University Ave.)

Guests' registration fees included a lunch ticket for the Reitz food court on the first day. We met my son for dinner at Broward dining hall. Hadn't really seen him all day. We attended large info sessions in the ballroom, and he spent the day with his small group, working on class schedules and other things.

The student hosts at Preview were terrific. So lively, and friendly, fun, and informative. Best part of the whole two days.
