Preview reactions?

I was wondering how this went/is going! My son visited just after Easter - remains a top choice for him, but I thought campus seemed pretty empty (maybe students were away for holiday?) He had a very positive experience (in dorms, some athletic event, sat in on classes) and enjoyed meeting the students.

Guess he has to decide soon and thought that responses to the official visit weekend may be useful. Any reports?

Thanks!

My favorite comment, which I thought summed up what I could gather from the Williams experience thus far, was made by the Jewish chaplain at the interfaith meeting. He said that Williams was “a community with ‘soft elbows’.” I thought that was a wonderful image. It is obvious that there is an ethos of an embracing community–the downside of which is that it could become suffocating for some–but my D came away happy. She told me stories of professors who asked her to call them when she arrived on campus to members of the team she will be joining who had both lunch and a bbq together. I understand why it is a “Purple Bubble”–almost idyllic.

There is usually a Facebook page for every admitted class. I’m sure there will be discussions about Previews.

Your son should REALLY check out the Williams Class of 2016 Facebook page. You don’t have to be sure you are attending and it really helps you get a feel for the student body. I applied ED and every single post and comment makes me happier that I am going there. Someone posted a video of a mathematics professor humorously debating what was “better” the integral or the derivative and that sparked a conversation that eventually led to William Faulkner. I have definitely found my people. :)
