I previously applied to a university and was accepted but decided to a local state college. Now, I realize my mistake and seek to transfer back to the initial university that I applied to.

Do the admission officers look at my previous application as well as my transfer application? I was wondering, since the essay topics are the same, if i could send in the same essay I used last year.

If they say that you must send in a completely new application for transfer then I'd think itd look alot better if you wrote a new essay since they expect you to have changed alot after a year of college. Some schools keep your application on file for a year though so you can reactivate it and not have to do anything except send them your college transcript to update your file. I'm working on getting that done with a couple of schools, which school are you trying for? If you call them up, they'll let you know what you're supposed to do.

Sometimes it can be as expensive to reactivate, but you would have all the rec's on file. Call the admissions office, or speak within someone in person if you can. There may be a way to better clarify your intentions to the adcom.
