The difference in math ability between the 99th and 90th percentile can be enormous. Some of those testing at the 99th percentile are really at the 99.999 percentile but the tests are too easy to judge that.

It isn’t a question of preparation necessarily; sone of those scoring at the 90th percentile are doing so not because of inadequate preparation but because of comparatively less aptitude.

Where are these 90th percentile score posts coming from? The CDS indicates fewer than 1% scored below 95th percentile on ACT math. You aren’t going to find many (any?) 90th and 99.999th percentile math scores at Mudd.
