<p>I was told that the primary school, would see the essay.</p>
<p>nubcaek - I applied early decision primary (and got accepted into) Engineering and secondary to CALS for biological engineering and used almost the same essay for both. I just changed a few words in each, and tailored the CALS essay a little more towards what the CALS question was.</p>
<p>Even so, given that Cornell is allowing students to apply to two colleges, they aren't going to hold what you say in the second essay against you--that would defeat the purpose. You have to show strong interest in both colleges through your essay and they know that. I think that's why the CAS admissions rep said they really wouldn't look at it. Plus they are already looking at two essays--the common app and the supplement.</p>
<p>Okay, so does it make sense for me to apply to CAS for English major and COE for Chemical Engineering?</p>
