Cornell primary/alternate college application

My daughter is very focused on a specific program in the college of engineering. Her essay is specific and gives support for her interest. Would an alternate college choice and major cheapen or devalue that first choice? How often do alternate college applications get acceptances? Her engineering major is only offered in any form in the college of engineering, so there's no real logical alternative. I wouldn't want having a second choice take away from the first choice.

insight???

There’s no need to apply for a secondary college, unless she’s equally passionate about a major in another college.

In your situation, I would not utilize the primary/alternate choice. In my case, the Biological Sciences major is offered in both CALS and CAS, so I will be using it.

Thanks. That’s what makes sense to us. I just wanted some confirmation.
