should be interesting...

yup, NU's starting its ascent to the #1 spot...

He is so dreamy...

I wonder why he's stepping down from Director to Dean? Northwestern should be honored to have him on the team. Do you think he'll practice (subconsciously or otherwise) the admissions philosophy he used at Princeton with him? How is Northwestern's admissions philosophy different from Princeton's anyway?

He is going to be the new Dean of Admissions, which is the highest spot in the Admissions office. I think this will be very interesting because I'm sure he will bring along with him some marketing techniques on how to attract top students to your school. I think it will increase the selectivity of NU and make it more well-known across the country.

I thought the Director of Admissions is still Keith Todd, and Mr. Watson is simply replacing Carol Lunkenheimer?

I think there is a difference between Dean of Undergraduate Admission and Director of Admissions. I think Director is higher.

Nonetheless, I think he can definitely help the school. In all honestly, I think it is in Northwestern's interest to start offering perhaps 100-150 full paid scholarships a year and start bringing in some top talent (perhaps, those who would have otherwise gone to yale or harvard). In a matter of a year or two, the student body quality could increase and then people will perceive it better, and then more students will want to enroll, and so forth. The perceived selectivity of a school matters a lot. For instance, around 3 years ago, Cornell was not perceived as that selective relative to other schools. Once it got its acceptance rate down, not only was it harder to get in but people perceived as harder to get in....

Something like a Duke/UNC Roberston scholarship...
However, I think mostly upper-middle-class people would benefit from this (the wealthier, the more opportunities to excel). Money would be taken away from lower-middle to lower class students, the ones who truly need the money.

^^ i know someone on that, but the thing is... that's really expensive... giving out 150 full scholarships... that's over 21 million dollars over for years for EACH entering class...

What changes do you think he's going to implement given his background at Princeton? Will this background have any influence at all?

mayb drop frosh grades?

You clearly have a very strong, very misguided idea of what Princeton is like...

Or he is being sarcastic.
