Princeton and MIT

Hey guys, so I was accepted to both MIT and Princeton, I want to study economics and possibly engineering, but I also want to explore other. I live nearby to Princeton, so I know the campus well. However, I really like the idea of living in Boston.

Princeton gave me $13,000 more per year than MIT did, I tried to talk to the MIT finaid office but they aren't really doing anything. Should I go to Princeton?

Princeton is one of those few schools that gives “super aid” using a very generous formula ( I think H, Y, and S are the others). MIT doesn’t usually give aid that is as generous as those schools.

The answer to this just depends so much on what financial resources you have; how much your parents are comfortable with contributing, any help from grandparents perhaps, if you’re willing to work summers and/or part-time during the academic year. For some students that $13000 difference is critical, for other less so.

I totally understand wanting to get a little farther from home and wanting to explore something new. You just need to weigh that against the financial difference and how meaningful it it.

Congratulations on your acceptances!
