Princeton AP Credit

Hello!

I was recently accepted to Princeton University, and was considering taking AP Chinese and Art, but I didn’t see them on the AP Credit Reference table for the Class of 2021. Do you know if they will update this table for the Class of 2022 to give credit for those two tests, or if I should email Princeton to ask instead?

Thank you for your time!

I’d email Princeton directly

For Chinese, they specifically want you to either take the class here or just test out using their tests. If you want to test out, you’ll get the option to do so over the summer. You do part of the exam at home and then mail it to them, and then, you come in and do an interview. They basically want to make sure you have both reading/writing skills and that you can speak/understand it well. The Chinese AP credit won’t really help I think. Princeton’s Chinese program is really amazing though. Also, you need to have up to second year proficiency to test out. After the interview, they’ll tell you where you tested into. If you got past second year, then you tested out.

In general, if it’s not on the list, then you’re probably not going to get AP credit unless you’re lucky and the department changes at that point. If you’re an art prospective major, then you’ll probably end up taking ART 100 if you’re talking about AP Art History.
