I attended an information session last august and I am not sure if I am just making up what I think the guide said. From what I recall, she told us we didn't need to be varsity athletes to join a club, since there were teams for "amateurs". I am a very interested in this point since I was involved in many sports at school but I was never "outstanding" in any of them, and I don't feel I would qualify to compete in serious stuff. I want to talk about this in my interview next week, so I would really appreciate if anyone could tell me more about the athletics at Princeton and clarify this for me. Thank you in advance!

Like most schools, there are varsity sports, club sports, and intramural sports at Princeton. Both varsity and club teams compete against other schools, but typically only varsity teams “matter” and require serious talent/time commitment. Many club teams could almost be viewed as social organizations.

I am an international and there is no such thing at schools here, but it is great to hear that Princeton has that. Thanks again!

There are many activities for non varsity athletes. There is the fitness center for aerobic workouts, intramural sports, and club sports. Club sports are for athletes who wish to compete in tennis, baseball, running, swimming, basketball, cycling, etc but do not want to be on a varsity team. There are 36 club sports teams. Check this list to find a club that appeals to you: [Campus Recreation Sport Clubs](http://www.princeton.edu/campusrec/sport-clubs-1/)
