Is it just me, or are there a lot of accepted students on this page?

[] State (if domestic applicant): MI
[] Country (if international applicant): N/A
[] School Type: Catholic
[] Ethnicity: Irish
[] Gender: XX
[] Income Bracket: Well-off
[li] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): I have red hair? Probably not the deciding factor.[/li][/ul]Reflection:
Strengths: Writing. Stats were one thing, but I guarantee that I wrote my way into this school.
Weaknesses: No glaring ones, though I could probably nit-pick my application for hours.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: No idea. I was telling people today in English that there was no way I was getting into Princeton because I just wasn't the type of kid that would enjoy it there (not to say anything negative about the school! It's just not the place for me). I was wrong on the first account, right on the second. I'm going to MIT next year instead. :)

i was rejected... it doesnt really hurt im more sad for my friend who has been dreaming of pton since he was born lol. i just applied for the sake of applying to an ivy.

rejected... but got into Harvard and Yale. So..all the better!! :)

School Type: Public
Hooks : CD-ROM along with art supplement
Reflection:
Strengths: *Understanding how I fit into Princeton
*Weaknesses: *Self esteem
*Why you think you were accepted:
I am grateful to CC for helping me understand the
college process clearly and in helping me procure hard data to dispel popular
misconceptions and myths that would have hindered my application process. The insightful points from
Harry Bauld and from Geraldine Woods "Dummies" treatise were pure gold!

may be u were too perfect? here's what the adcoms probably do - make a pile of qualified students, choose 3 out of every 25 randomly, ( according to their selectivity), and send them admission letters. whatever happens happens for the best and ultimately you find your match.

Decision: DD is Accepted & will attend

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I: 780/math, 800/v, 800/cr (one sitting)
[] SAT II: 800/math, 780/history, 780/chem
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0

[] Volunteer/Community service: volunteer in Peru after creatively fundraising the $5500 necessary to do so (totally downplayed this experience in applications; it was just a line item on the resume)
[] Summer Activities: rowing, Peru, not much else
[] Essays: wrote 5, all of which teachers & GC liked; I thought they were fine but mundane & pedestrian; read Bauld's book on Crafting the Essay, sat down, and wrote a superb, non-traditional essay in 30 minutes; teachers & GC thought it was risky to send, but she did it anyway; turned out fine (see results below)
[] Teacher Recommendation: glowing, I'm sure
[] Counselor Rec: excellent, I'm sure
[] Additional Rec: none
[] Interview: local alum; it went fine, not as spectacular as Brown interview

[] Ethnicity: white
[] Gender: female
[] Income Bracket: $100-$125

Reflection: well-balanced; wants to study physics, but is very strong writer; didn't show a laundry list of activities (ie, omitted many things she'd done but didn't pursue long-term); did a few things consistently and showed growth in those areas thru the years; non-traditional resume format which was very easy-on-the-eyes

For what it's worth.... her 'favorite quote' essay was a bit risky, as she quoted herself

Accepted: Princeton, Dartmouth, Duke, NW, Rochester, Tufts, Geneseo
Waitlisted: H-Y-B and will take herself off the waiting list today
Rejected: None

southeasttitan--maybe that was a LITTLE exaggerated! (I kid, I kid!) I thought I'd put in a joke to lighten the mood, maybe not the best idea in hindsight!
