Princeton degree in ORFE/Economics/Finance?

Hello everyone!

I’ve committed to Princeton and have recently seen the light over what I want to do in college. I think I’d like to get into banking/investment/something similar. I don’t have a huge amount of knowledge on the topic, so I was hoping I could provide some relevant info on myself and wiser people could steer me in the right direction:

While I enjoy politics over math at heart, I actually really liked and found myself to be quite good at calculus this year. Topics that have foundations in algebra like integrating/differentiating/optimization were fun and came naturally to me. I was thinking of the possibility of majoring in one of the three afore mentioned topics and getting a certificate in politics to keep things interesting for myself.

If I had known I was interested in this earlier I would’ve applied to Wharton, but there’s no use crying over spilled milk now.

I know that ORFE is an engineering degree and thus harder than economics or finance, but I believe I am capable of shouldering the workload. My question is: does ORFE give me a significant boost when looking for employment? Because if economics or finance are just as well received I would prefer to do AB.

Also, what are the differences in studying economics and finance (I’ve heard that economics has more theory than math and finance is better for banking) and how would job prospects differ?

Keep in mind that I will probably be looking at jobs in the Middle East as well as the U.S.

Thank you so much!

ORFE = better for quant jobs, econ AB = better for banking (not in terms of prestige, but because it is much easier to get a high GPA in it).

Given the way the world is headed, between those two, I would definitely do ORFE.
