Princeton ED Roster

If so, that's incorrect. In fact, I rechecked the Princeton's website, the acceptance rate for the class of '08 was closer to 13% than 12%.

oh yippeee!

The one thing that gave me hope was when the Princeton adrep who spoke in Dallas told us that if we do get deffered, we have a good chance of getting in RD. He said they only really defer people who they think will have a strong chance of getting in RD, and most do. That was pretty encouraging.

I don't hear about that many people getting flat out rejected during ED though.

yeah, ED/REJ at P'ton is like impossible almost.

EA/REJ at Yale is more common

I don't, either...though the adcom said it was a self-selected group

I think that goes along with the fact that most people who apply ED are strong applicants who could make it in the RD round. That many end up getting accepted RD after an ED deferral seems to fit that.

I wish they'd release a solid percentage of deferrals who get accepted, though. They don't do it, however, because if the admit percent is higher than the overall, it'd be difficult for them to defend their statement that ED doesn't give applicants a leg up. (I am convinced that it does.)

yeah i think that princeton will also get more apps this year because they're taking common app

And because people got scared of Yale since they were so bad last year.

so actually, if people were really smart, they'd apply EA Yale this year, taking the psychological effect of last year's EA Yale massacre into account to predict a drop in EA apps, and an increase in ED princeton apps due to their 32% rate last year. So in reality, we're the dumb ones.

Actually, no. We're the smart ones because we realized Princeton is really worth applying early for.

Precisely. Quite right, old chap.

I love this...it seems Encomium has gotten really psyched about Princeton (it must have been from watching "beginnings" so many times, lol)

Yay, Encomium, me too! To go with phil's British terminology, Tigers for the Cup!

I'm number 1! Hurrah!
I know...childish.

Maybe you'll be lucky enough to be at the top of the adcom's list, too ;)

Haha, I hope so. I just went to a Princeton information session today. It was pretty nuts.

how so? ........(as I fill in the 10 character limit, bah)

Well, the presentation was nice....not that informative (I've known Princeton growing up, and I already went to their on campus info session). But, the reason that it was nuts was that my dad knew the man who was the head interviewer for our area(he gave a mini-speech in the middle of the representative's presentation). My dad dislikes this man very much (I'm being tactful). When my parents first moved to Houston, my parents wanted to help recruit kids to Princeton from less afluent public schools. This guy blew my parents off and told them that only kids at elite prepatory instituitions were worthy of Princeton (this was in the 80s). Yeah...basically, the guy is a traditionalist, and my dad isn't.

If I'm not coherent, it's because I'm tired and about to go to bed. ;)
