@Anonymous261 I just got accepted with only 3 semesters of Spanish (and I’m only taking Spanish III in this final semester of my senior year lol). I wouldn’t stress out about it too much.
@Wanderer32178 it was hacked, so realtalk Princeton started a new Tumblr, search for “realtalk-princeton” to find it. Putting a direct link in a post is against CC’s TOS, but you can find it by a search.
Cheers,
Psy
I know it’s too late, but I’m a bit anxious and it might ease my mind a bit. So I wrote my common app essay about drawing and how it affects me in my life from school to family. Basically, how it makes me who I am as a person. I like to draw as a hobby but my skills aren’t really exceptional. Like it’s just your average sketches. So I didn’t submit an art portfolio as my guidance said it’s really only for if you are like extremely talented or won an award. So…will it look bad because I didn’t submit a portfolio but my essay was about drawing. I’m really sorry for this stupid question and since it’s so late and all. But thanks for taking it in to consideration.
@Anonymous261 if you wrote well, about how your drawing is a personal identity aspect, and not a skill, you’ll be fine. What did you indicate as your preferred concentration?
Your 3 years of language is more problematic, they really want 4 years…
At this level, it is such a lottery, there is no reason for anxiety since you really cannot control anything. Best to make other plans and maybe you’ll get pleasantly surprised instead.
Last, know Princeton and Harvard are not the only place you can succeed. Thrive where you are planted.
Good luck!
@psywar I said undecided because I wasn’t really sure yet. but, kind of leaning towards engineering. So my bad there. Yeah, I know the language thing is problematic. Giving up language was the only way I could fit both quantum physics and linear algebra and differential in my schedule. Kinda screwed up there…
But thanks for your advice!!
I am EA accepted and thinking of not giving AP Gov (no credits or placement awarded) and AP Eng Lit (no credits, but placement awarded if scored 5) exams. Is that a wise move?
@URwelcome - call the admissions office and see what their requirement is for you. My son was still required to take his AP exams when admitted in 2011 for the class of 2016 but I am seeing some variation in response throughout these threads from students who have found themselves in similar situations. Since you don’t want to make decisions that may result in having an offer of admission rescinded, the final call rests with admissions.
My SCEA admitted son last year was told that it would be considered inappropriate not to take any exam for which he was taking the class. So he took all except English, which he’d registered for independently in case he picked MIT where it’s good for a requirement. He was a bit annoyed, because Princeton only lets you use two history exams, which he had already, but he listened (and did get a 5).
What is the social life and nightlife like at princeton?
@danielb0370 I’d ask this at realtalk-Princeton a Tumblr blog by actual students. My observation is Thursday is the main night where underclassmen pregame in their rooms, then head to the street. Then Saturday is the next big thing. Upperclassmen have dinner / parties / themed events at their Eating Clubs. You can always find something to do and someone to hang with.
This may be a controversial question, but how big of a part does legacy play in the admission acceptance process?
Which colleges offer single gender floors?
Hi! I have been accepted to Princeton for the Class of 2021 but I am not happy with the financial aid that they have given me. So, I sent them an email to faoffice@princeton.edu requesting for re-evaluation of my financial aid but I have not yet received a reply from them (It has already been about a week). What do you guys suggest I should now do? Did I send my request to the right place or was I supposed to send my request to a different email address?
Have you tried calling them? I would try that next if you have not already done so.
As a point of interest, Princeton has a specific format they use to calculate financial aid and unless some of your information was incorrect or there has been a significant change to your family’s financial situation since you applied, you are unlikely to see any adjustment offered.
Also I just noted you asked this question on another thread as well. Replicating posts/questions on these threads causes extremely disjointed discussions and will not produce a better result. Those who answer questions regularly on this forum tend to read all the threads and respond where there is helpful information to offer.
thank you @Cantiger
@danielb0370 It’s alright, better than a lot of comparable schools. I think one of the best parts is the lax alcohol policy, which makes drinking a little more common, although also safer, too. It’s a good time, but it’s also always the same thing… easy to get bored and long for a city by the time you’re a junior or senior. Also, it’s not a big school, and the number of social kids who go out frequently isn’t huge, so you’ll often run into the same people every weekend, which could be perceived as either a good or bad thing.
Question: How about these stats for Princeton? Do I have a chance? SAT 1410; ACT 25; GPA 4.2; Great extra curricular and awards. Top 5%. I am retesting my ACT this month.
@JLCprinceton18 you supplied too little info. Course rigor? APs? Demographic? SATII’s? What are “great” ECs?
That ACT needs to be 32 or higher!
Don’t be lazy, chance me asks are hard enough w/o enough info.
My councilor told me that Princeton is requesting my mid year transcript, does it mean that they are considering me or is it asked of every applicant? I aplied RD.
@RACOON1012 it means you aren’t on the “no” pile, and at this late date it means they are definitely considering you… along with thousands of others. It is a good sign in that’s it’s not a “no”, but don’t read too much into this.
