@Alezzz That happened to me as well. Don’t think it means anything unfortunately
Hello, All! I am interested in applying to Princeton University Single-Choice Early Action. I plan on being done with all of my tests by the end of October. I don’t have a remarkable or mindblowing application, but I do have many academic strengths. Princeton has been at the top of my college list for a while now, so I’m ready to give this application my all. Some people think that there’s nothing to lose in applying SCEA, while others have warned me against it.
I figured it’d be best to ask the students. Is there a reason that it wouldn’t be worth applying SCEA?
Thank you!
Hi- My daughter will be attending Princeton in the fall. She did single choice early action. She was initially deferred. She had a 35 on her ACT a 4.0 and was a national merit scholar along with varsity athlete and started a nonprofit club at her HS.
She found early action single decision was a good choice for Princeton but not her other schools. She was actually wait listed at her safety school. She applied regular decision (She called to find out why) they said she did not show enough interest.
My older daughter applier early action at 13 schools. She got into them all.
Unless you feel you really have the academics and extra curriculars and LOVE for Princeton I would do early action at as many schools as possible.
Thank you so much, @mara15! That is quite helpful! So you’re saying that applying SCEA to Princeton will just be a waste if I don’t have some confidence that I’ll get in? I definitely have the love and extracurriculars. My test scores are the only thing I’m worried about…
Best of luck to your daughter!
Yes…In my opinion after watching both my girls apply to schools. One SEA and one unrestricted early action I felt the SEA child who was more academically outstanding was waitlisted due to the regular application deadline at other schools being perceived as a lack of interest. Others might have different experiences and/or opinions. Which I would love to hear because I have another daughter who will be filling out applications next year:0)
@mara15, what were the 13 schools that your older daughter applied to? Which schools would you suggest to apply to for unrestricted early action?
Greetings, We would like to plan a campus visit of Princeton University in the week of June 10th. However, the school tour is not open until after June 16th based on the school website calendar. I am wondering if there is any way to find some students on campus to provided a guided tour on the week of June 10th? Any advice or information is highly appreciated!
sorry- Haven’t been on this site for a while:

Also I have another kiddo that is a sophomore. My middle (Princeton) daughter advised if she REALLY wants Brown to just go Early decision (binding). The level of interest is very important and to go early decision binding shows the ultimate level of interest…if the grades are there. Also with endowments the amount of financial aid at the Ivies are significantly higher than at other schools.
ED improves your odds. EA or SCEA doesn’t give similar advantage at top tier.
I’m just a freshman but I’m extremely interested in a university like this one. I have a 3.5uw GPA and 4.0w GPA. I’m involved in numerous clubs. I am not a legacy but I think I might be a first-gen college student. I don’t know. I live with my grandparents who are without college degrees but my birth mom who died when I was 2 had one. So I guess my questions are am I a first-gen? And what are my chances?
Technically you aren’t first-gen, but as a practical matter you pretty much are. I think you’ll be able to get that benefit.
To increase your chances for any competitive college, strive to get you UWGPA up into the 3.8 or above range, while taking challenging classes.
Torn between Princeton and Yale. Possible CS major but also interested in ORFE. Unable to visit and looking for feedbacks. Thank you.
I received an email yesterday saying “Missing Financial Aid Documents” with 15 days to go for the deadline to submit the Financial Aid Docs at Princeton, is this some kind of a hint? Anyone?
@hubbabubbabubba Financial aid processing takes place independent of, and parallel to, the admission process. In other words, sorry, it’s not a hint – the message simply means that you haven’t submitted the required documents. Because final admission decisions aren’t made until March, the financial aid office needs to prepare estimates for all (or nearly all) applicants, so that the financial aid packages are ready to roll when the admissions department makes its final decisions.
- What activities are offered to students?
- What clubs do you have on campus?
what do you think that academic life is competitive there? do you feel as though it’s a constant rat race.
Applied for RD Class of 2026, international, small country. If only a few of those applied get an interview, does that mean they were on the shortlist?
