Both are notorious for their putative grade deflation: Princeton with it's installed grade deflation policy and MIT with its massive workload. Which is more deflated/difficult to do a biochemistry major at?

I don’t know how severely Princeton has enforced grade deflation. In the 90’s, I heard from a Princeton chem major that chemistry was very deflated (average of about 3.1-3.2/4.0) but that molecular bio and biochem (or the humanities) were really easy to get high GPAs. He said the premeds never did the straight chem major for that reason.

The average GPA at MIT was around 4.1-4.2/5.0, but engineering may pull it down.
