I was accepted to several schools but my top choices are Princeton and Yale. I would like to go into the medical field. I attended both Princeton Preview days and Yale Bulldog Days. After considering all of the factors, I am about to make my decision, but I would like to hear finally from only prospective pre-med students at these colleges. Consider all the factors and vote either Princeton or Yale. I would only like to the answer "Princeton" or "Yale". No explanations please. Thanks

Princeton, I guess.

With all due respect (and to repeat what someone said in the Yale board), this is an incredibly bad way to make a decision, especially in a forum of strangers and ■■■■■■. Why don’t you tell us what your top 3 priorities are for your college period, and we can give you more information.

If I were a premed I’d choose Yale, only because of grade deflation at Princeton.

I second Silly Puddy.

The entire point of these threads is to gain perspective, not to have your decision made for you. I say go to your local community college. Now what? It looks like 1-1-1 for Yale, Princeton, and the Community College.

I would encourage more people to vote for the Community College, so that the OP isn’t actually persuaded by an anonymous poll.

Wow, I’m really impressed by Yale’s admissions statistics to med schools. 21% acceptance rate to UCSF? I’m jealous.

randombetch,

You are very helpful and your posts thoughtful.

If you’re actually just blindly asking internet strangers to vote without explanation on where you should go to college, please go to Yale.

Otherwise, what you do personally will probably make a bigger difference than the school you attend, and you should probably just go to the place where you would prefer to live.

Yale for premed because you don’t have grade deflation. I know you said no explanation but I don’t think you should just blindly take votes from people.

Thank you rainbowrose,

Sorry for saying ‘no explainations’. Please post your explanations. Your positive suggestions will really help people like me. So many of us are having really tough time deciding between these great colleges.

Princeton. I know Yale doesn’t have grade deflation, but if you really want the most rigorous, best quality education where you will be pushed to the limits, Princeton is unrivaled. In addition, the final thesis from what I here, adds to the Princeton experience and is really the culmination of 4 years of exceptional education. If you still want quality education but you don’t want the really exciting and sometimes tiring challeges at Princeton, go to Yale. Plus there is no grade deflation and Yale graduates get accepted to really great medical schools.

Please understand that I am not a student at either of those schools. I’m just telling you my preception about those schools, derived from CC’ers and my own research. You shoud weigh my opinion a lot less than undergraduates like randombetch, who are actually attending the schools in question. Good Luck.

Please bear in mind that virtually no one who is posting on one these forums has attended both Princeton and Yale, so they can’t really give you a basis for comparison. As well, internet posters aren’t a representative sample. They can be people who forgot to take their medicine today, or can be people who are attending Northeast Nowhere State and having fun messing with your mind (or people who got turned down at Princeton or Yale, and using the board to get their revenge).

If you go to either school and work hard, you’ll get into med school. Both provide an education that will get you good MCAT scores (that’s one way that med schools equate GPA’s between different schools, because a 3.5 at one school is not the same as a 3.5 at another school - no two schools, or even departments within the same school, grade the same). Both will also provide you no end of places where you can get involved in research beyond the 12 courses required to get you into med school if you want to do so. I’m a Princeton grad, and know that Princeton has produced countless physicians. I went to school with a woman (Chem Engineer at Princeton) who is a Harvard Med Prof/Physician, a Johns Hopkins cardiothoracic surgeon/former football center/lacrosse player and Dr. Donnica (who still haunts TV news programs). Dr. Bill Frist, cardiothoracic surgeon/Senate Majority Leader, also went to Princeton. Yale can come up with an endless list of accomplished and star physicians as well.

Think of what you experienced when you visited the schools. What were the kids like? What were the classes like? Which place would be more fun (if you don’t have some fun, your grades will stink, too). The biggest difference is not the caliber of education, but the settings. One is set in a richy suburban town, the other is in an urban setting. Think of those things, rather than trying to split minute hairs regarding which one will give you a better chance of getting into med school, because both will provide you with all the tools you could possibly need to get into med school.

Pre-meds are boring.

PS: If one school has offered you more financial aid than the other, and you want to go to the other one, call the financial aid office and plead your case. These schools will often meet the other school’s offer if you show it to them.

By the way, goodluck1 may be a ■■■■■

I second ms. eating food.

Princeton doesn’t even have Medical School.
Yale Med school will surely give first priority preference to Yale College applicants.

Hey goodluck1…
I’m in the EXACT same situation as you… I was accepted into Yale regular decision, and taken off the wait-list as Princeton last week, so I’m deciding between those AND I’m interested in pursuing medicine.
So I’m just curious, what did you end up choosing?

Goodluck1 is not a ■■■■■. My son ended up choosing Yale. Princeton is his dream school and he liked it so much but at the end he chose Yale only because of his pre-med track…
Good luck…
