Pton, Yale, or Stanford for a pre-Med?

Hi CC!

So the miracle happened and I am in an insanely tough and happy dilemma deciding between Pton,Yale, or Stanford.

I am very sure I want to do medicine after undergrad. I would appreciate any input... particularly on the science depts, pre-Med advising internships and opportunities, academic requirements etc. about being a pre-Med at these places. I would also be grateful for anything (even anything like rooster08's you'll-die-a-painful-death critique of East coast weather) about the schools generally. I am crazy about all these schools and am looking for a tiebreaker ;).

Thanks lots, and for all the help CC has given me previously in this crazy college admissions process.

I am making a similar choice (except replace amherst for pton since pton waitlisted me)... but even if I was/am accepted to pton, I would ultimately go for Yale despite the better science reputation of Stanford and Princeton. Yale science is definately nothing to scoff at, and the community there intrigues me more. Perhaps that is just me tho. I dont think I would mix well with the Princeton community, and I have a bad gut feeling about Stanford (I live right next to it).

if you're doing pre-med...i think it would be best for you to go to either Yale or Stanford...the rest is up to you..good luck

any specific reason why you say that? just curious...

im in a crutch b/w stanford n columbia!

as for ur dilemma...i really cant say.Yale/Stanford are pretty impressive schools, so maybe you should check out the admit weekends? gluck!

thx everyone for the input + keep them coming, please!

bellared - I can't visit admit weekends; I'm overseas, without enough cash, and with inconveniently timed exams : (.

Anyone know/hear anything about rates at which students drop out of preMed (say, excruciating competition/ not enough advising / not-so-great requirements or departments or teaching?)

once again, thanks lots!

I am in the EXACT same situation. Sooo hard. It's ironic that a week ago I was praying I would get into one of these schools. And now I wish I only got into ONE of these schools. lol. I live right next to Yale but I somehow have a gut instinct about Stanford. I hope the admit weekends will clear things up for me a bit. good luck to you!
