As I am preparing to select my final college for early action, I am stuck between Yale and Princeton. I am interested in calculus/physics but can see myself realistically pursuing a career in business. Seeing that Princeton does not have a business school, will I be put at a disadvantage (I heard there is also grade deflation there)? However, Princeton is the number one university and I doubt it got there by putting students at disadvantages... I really would appreciate information regarding both colleges because I do not have the opportunity to visit either. Anything helps!! Thank you.

This sounds very familiar to me. My son was torn between Princeton, Yale, and Stanford and ultimately chose Princeton where he concentrated in physics. Now that he’s graduated he’s on a science oriented business path.

I’m sure either school would serve you well. Grade inflation didn’t bother my son; if anything it gave him a little extra motivation.

Princeton’s campus is stunning. Princeton is in a strange suburban setting. The funny thing is it seems suburban, but it isn’t a suburb of a larger city. It’s far enough away from New York or Philadelphia that it isn’t a suburb of those. It’s just plain weird.

Yale’s campus is also beautiful. The surrounding city, New Haven, is decidedly grittier than Princeton’s surroundings, but I wouldn’t let that influence your decision.

Hmm Yale’s science department is rapidly expanding, and they’re looking to attract more talented STEM students, so you may want to look into that. Also take college rankings with a grain of salt. There really is no academic difference between HYP MIT Stanford UPenn Columbia Uchicago etcetc, for they’re all at the same calibre.
