This slide show really to me is important for understanding Princeton. You can see it used to be pretty white and totally male. No longer. You can also see that all these highly intelligent people are laughing and joking around. What you can't see is that the younger classes are cheering and doing the locomotive for the old guys, and the old guys are cheering on the younger, much more diverse classes.

And, if this stuff strikes you as too ridiculous, Princeton might not be your favorite school. Not that this happens all year long, it doesn't. But the people who are happy there are the people who have the tendency to want to belong, to engage in their institution, and have a certain enjoyment of playing. And who can put down all hopes of being cool when the time comes:).

Me, I am not the type to usually dress up in goofy costumes. Nor am I at all conservative, or east coasty. But I am so fond of Princeton, that when I went to my 25th Reunion, I got chills as I walked down the hill. Seeing what people like you will make of the place in the years to come.
