Princeton Review 2011 College Rankings

Anyone know when these are coming out? I know last year they came out on July 27th. Does the same hold true for this summer?

I’m not sure when they appear online, but the book comes out on August 3rd.

Oh suhweet! Thanks :]

The rankings are probably the least important part of the book in my opinion. There are tons of schools that are “conservative” or have a “good library” and you can’t rank them.

What I like to read are the student reviews from the surveys.

hahahaa these are so screwed up this year! how did swarthmore fall from #1 to #11 in the financial aid department?!? what so significantly dragged them down in 365 days!?

They’re all based on surveys. (subjective rankings to say the least) I don’t know who takes the Princeton Review rankings that seriously.

Naturally. There is no way to objectively rank most of the categories.

I think they’re worth something. I mean, a school with terrible teachers on average, for example, is certainly not going to rank well on the list for best teaching quality.

“I think they’re worth something.”

Absolutely but it quickly loses value when, as elbeeen pointed out, a school drops from #1 to #11 in a certain category within a year. My school also went from one of the top 10 best college newspapers last year to “unranked” this year. It didn’t even make top 20. You can’t tell me there was something tweaked in the college newspaper system that caused it to drop out of the top 20.

can anyone post the rankings here?

Of course not.

something better to look at are the “Academic” and “Quality Of Life” or “Environmental” ratings for each school which are listed under each school on princeton review’s website. Those are numerical ratings for each category for the school from 60-99 and they rarely change from year to year.
