The Princeton Review surveyed thousands of college applicants and their parents. The question asked was: "What is your dream school if cost or admission was not a factor?"

Last year SC came in 9th for students and again this year. However, this year parents were surveyed. Univ. of Southern California came in 9th for parents, ahead of MIT.

Dream Schools for Parents
1. Harvard
2. Stanford
3. Princeton
4. Notre Dame
5. Yale
6. N.Y.U.
7. U.C.L.A.
8. Duke
9. UNIV. OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
10. M.I.T.

Think about the thousands of colleges in the U.S. I feel this is remarkable. Apparently, you SC moms on the board are not the only ones pleased with your relationship with SC.

It’s hard NOT to find USC a “dream school” when our students are so happy, energized, and inspired there all the time. For instance, my S just called me this afternoon and talked about a one-on-one meeting he had with Professor Casper, a legend at USC Film school and, I believe, the highest paid person at USC. Or is that Pete Carroll? LOL. Anyway, they had dessert together at Parkside and talked for about an hour. On Monday he attended a TEDx conference where Melissa Etheridge spoke (and performed) among other insanely creative panelists. Next week he’s going to a screening of “Forrest Gump” where Robert Zemekis and Tom Hanks will speak. In the meantime, his two academic advisors–in his major and in TO–are doing a great job of helping him set up his schedule next year, which is tricky because both SCA and TO have to mesh. All in all, a wonderful school. And I hope a lot of great kids from this year’s applicant pool get the chance to go, too.

If you can find the time could you please post that on the Parent Forum and the College Majors Forum–Art and Film?
Your son is having incredible experiences.

If I were surveyed- I would definitely put USC at the top! My two S’s have also had incredible experiences in Marshall. S1 (grad 2006) could not have had a better springboard for a job in LA with a successful (!) hedge fund.

My kids went to a very competitive high school and many good friends went to 1-8 on the list. I have never, for one minute, wished my sons went to one of those schools.

(To be honest, I’m very surprised NYU is so high that list.)
