Princeton Review for SAT prep?

I was wondering if any of you guys have taken the princeton review courses for the SAT's. I'm thinking of getting a tutor through them, I really want to get the highest score I possibly can (probably 2300 or higher, considering I test well). So if anyone has taken any courses please tell me what your experiences were! Thanks! <33

im currently taking it...it will def improve your raw score...the question is how much time and work are you willing to put into it, because i get 40 pages of text book work and i have to learn 50 vocab words weekly...2 classes a week 1 is 4 hours which is a practice SAT class where u actually take 1 and the other is 3 hours for the actual class...very boring but again if you can handle it and the thousand dollar fee...go for it , as it does help

The PR courses really only help you if you start out below like 2000, and even then they only help you get motivated to study.

Personally, I never took any courses because from all that I heard, getting the book is practically the same thing, and training with non-official CB tests is bad. I started with a 1920 or so in the Official Book from CB, and eventually had in the 2300 range (in which I scored on the actual test too). So my suggestion is if you can get yourself motivated enough to work every day, then don't waste the money and use it instead to buy as many SAT books as you want and then study from those. Self-studying really does work if you stick with it. All it takes is practice.

so NYker89, how did it help you? Did everyone in your class improve? Above 2000? I might consider taking it too.

Would a tutor help better than a course then? Lucky for me, my parents don't really care how much it costs. I found a program on their website where you must have an 1800 beginning and they guarantee over a 2200 so I might try that one.

Uh, most people prep with stuff besides CB. I am using Cracking the SAT along with 11 Practice Tests for the SAT, and they are definitely worth it. I actually like them better because they have answer explanations and the CB tests don't. The PR tests are definitely on par with the CB ones though, for content.

btw the books that come with the PR course are not the same ones I got; you can't get them at the bookstore. They only come with the course. I know someone taking a PR online course but haven't seen the materials yet, but she said they're very good.

elephant4life (interesting handle, dude)...if you test well, you probably will be fine with self prep. Have you started yet? See how you're doing before you decide.
