Princeton Review "Least Happy Students"

A few days ago a coach of mine pointed me in the direction of Trinity College in Hartford. As i began to check it out i started to really like the schools athletic program as well as its gorgeous campus and academic programs. Although the school looks great to me, the Princeton Review placed it #20 for least happy students a
d #1 for Town-Gown relationships are strained. Are these stats true? Do students really dislike going to such a great school and if so why? What makes the relationship between Trinity and Hartford so strained? Will it effect the nightlife of the school?

Come on, Somebody?

I was recently on Trinity College’s campus, and while the campus itself is perfectly fine (and resembles any other nice liberal arts college campus), the area directly around was not great at all. It was depressing and very unsafe. Perhaps the lack of a true “college town” and not being safe right outside the campus makes people unhappy?

Hartford has no heart for college students.

That’s fine but that doesn’t explain to me why students are “so unhappy”

The area around Yale in New Haven isnt a garden spot either, it is reported.

But those schools are not alone in having tough neighborhoods. I suggest you visit Trinity and ask the students directly. If you have been accepted, then you MUST visit and check it out and spend a LOT of your time talking to students.

My kid goes to Fordham in the Bronx. We are not New Yorkers. We were very wary of the neighborhood at first, but after visiting campus, talking to students and faculty and Fordham’s President directly, we felt better. Its been a wonderful experience. My kid is now involved in tutoring underprivileged kids in some of those neighborhoods. What appeared to be a negative is now a positive.

If you like the school and its a good fit for you, then go with your gut feeling on that. Pay no attention to people who are either prestige hounds or snobs who don’t really know what they are talking about. Visit Trinity and go with your own feelings after interviewing students. Isn’t Trinity a big school for handball? Like NCAA champions or something like that?

Post this again with Trinity in your title. You’ll get answers.
