@PantherLair I’m still not totally convinced, but (at least if I get deferred) I’ll probably go and cross-reference the posts and analyze it a little. We have a lot more people commenting about it now than have in the past, I think.
@azwu331 I haven’t gotten one either… But there are still people reporting that they just received confirmation. Either UA or FA (or both) are still working, if they had everything finalized there would be no reason to wait until Wednesday. There are still a few more days for them to potentially send a confirmation back, and we still don’t know that it means anything.
@meaa7130 I thought the lyrics were “GO TIGERS”
@azwu331 What email are you referring to? The one about confirmation of the financial aid documents? I think those who asked for confirmation received it…
I wouldn’t waste too much time looking for these “correlations”
@azwu331 already said that there were exceptions (someone who received confirmation email did not get in - someone who didn’t receive email, did get in) – which means, there IS NO correlation. It is coincidence.
plus, many many people do not report facts accurately here (as everyone should know) - so, there is no way you can build a statistical case for any such correlation
Don’t get yourself all worked up about this – relax and enjoy the wait!
@azwu331 Which thread did you use? I can’t find it.
@52balletvieta He was referring to the confirmation email that Princeton sent some applicants after they sent their tax forms. I received one, but I didn’t ask for confirmation. It’s all hearsay really and I don’t want to get my hopes up over something this wishy-washy.
@FarscapeFan Yes, it seems that people who don’t have financial problems have a lot to say about fee waivers, what those with low income can and cannot afford, etc.
I think everyone is reading way too much into the financial aid email response - based on my analysis of past threads, there doesn’t seem to be a definite correlation, so I’m confused where @azwu331 got that information from. I think we are all (myself included) grasping at any straws about our potential admissions decisions that we can find. In reality, we are not going to know until Wednesday, and we all need to just come to terms with that fact. Whatever happens, happens. Let’s all quit overanalyzing everything - I think it’s stressing everyone out!
@meaa7130 Ah, I didn’t get a confirmation. Lol oh well… Ive been sleeping in my Princeton gear for good luck.
@collegebound1915 Yeah I’ve scoured the thread, and I can’t seem to find any correlation. I think @azwu331 is worrying too much
@APrincetonian Would you mind sharing how a fee waiver doesn’t help you afford it? I realize this comes off as a bit confrontational, but you of course have to understand that the people who “don’t have financial problems” haven’t tried to go through the process of obtaining a fee waiver. All we know is that there’s a system in place that claims to give fee waivers to those who demonstrate the financial need of it.
So, what if I sent my PFAA and Tax Forms on time? And I had spoken to the FA office weeks ago and they had told me that I have everything submitted. Does that mean anything that I didn’t get a request or confirmation?
@chicoan98 Sounds like you already got your confirmation, and if they had your information there would be nothing to request.
Anyone know if the big tiger image comes up for acceptance notifications every year? As in, is it a tradition that’s unlikely to change?
It’d be rather crushing if, on notification date, portal gets logged into & there’s no tiger even if it is an acceptance. Not sure if the whole body of the notification would even get read! Lol
@CautiousOptimist At my school, everyone is low income so we are all entitled to three college board fee waivers during our entire high school career. The school cannot apply to get more for any student and I don’t know of a way to get them via college board directly. So, if you take any combination of SAT or subject tests more than three times, you must pay for the remaining tests. The same goes with many non-common app fee waivers. You have an upper limit (often between 3-5) and you must pay beyond that limit. So if I took the SAT three times, I couldn’t take subject tests. Conversely, if I took four subject tests, I could take the SAT only once or else I’d have to pay. Additionally, it costs to send score reports to every school you apply to and this has definitely put a strain on my family’s finances. College apps and college itself still aren’t very accessible for low income students. We often have to jump through more hoops.
I looked at the financial aid thread, and while there isn’t enough data to draw a definitive conclusion, @azwu331 might be right since there does seem to be a correlation. No confirmation here, gg
@jumbletumbles I like the tiger. I hope they don’t get rid of it. I remember a few years back there really wasn’t an acceptance letter, just a really big “YES!” on the paper with a sentence saying you got in. It would be really cool if they brought that back. But why am I even talking. It’s not like I’ll see that letter anyway
Wait guys, when y’all sent in the tax forms, did y’all only indicate your names?
as in, that was the only identification info, did we have to put the student and application number too?
A big YES! would be great! Concise & to the only point anyone cares about. Lol
We’re not putting much faith I the FA email stuff as an indicator of anything for EA. But out of curiosity, what conjecture can be made for students who submitted all the docs by 11/1 & received confirmation of receipt the next day, but no other communication since that??? Not sure which camp to be in - got confirm or not - because yes, received it, but not a second request for info.
Confused about that whole line of guesstimating
