Certain sororities and fraternities will feed into certain bicker clubs. There are some sports people who join greek organizations, but for the most part they have their own circle of friends in the team and don't need anything else to start the school year off with.

If you go often to the street and to certain clubs you'll figure it all out pretty quickly. Most student groups like sports teams, frats, and performance groups will heavily concentrate in one club.

This division lends itself to tight communities within clubs but also a huge division within the princeton student body once the first few weeks pass.

I read that those who fail to gain entrance via bicker will have an opportunity to sign in the non-bicker clubs.

so im going there next year and im frankly worried about the eating club scene...how does that work? for example, if you bicker for one and dont make it into one, then your kinda screwed right? and how do you get into sororities/ fraternies (are they feeders for eating clubs) do they even let in athletes into sororities/fraternities?

i asked some1 at princeton and shes in cottage and a sorority and she suddenly became all secretive about it...so now im more worried

sorry about so many questions

You bicker for eating clubs in around a weeks time, during sophomore year. Before you bicker, you write down the following on a website: the club where you want to bicker, your first choice, your second choice, etc. Now, everyone who chooses not to bicker nearly always gets their first choice during the first round (the first "round" for bicker people is the bicker process). During second rounds, those who did not get into a given bicker club are matched with their top club available.

Usually Terrace F. Club, Colonial Club fill up first round. The others fill up later. So if you want to be in either of the first two, you HAVE to sign in and not bicker.

Athletes can get into fraternities or sororities. But, if you're worried about the eating club scene, I have to wonder how social you are. Most people who are in the fraternities and sororities are not worried about such things. But you know, I frankly think joining a fraternity or sorority just to get into an eating club is lame. But that's just me.

The girl who is in Cottage and in a sorority is probably a Theta (Kappa Alpha Theta). Each sorority has different reputations. In fear of getting everyone ****ed of, I don't want to go listing the reps (you can PM me if you want that), but many athletes join Phi Kap or Beta (for footballers).

My courseload is tough, well above average. But its not the hardest here, I think most math majors have harder courseloads. For fun, people dance, drink, go to eating clubs, hang out at their friends' dorms, play pool, video games, and have sex. Pretty typical for college.

Bathroom dorms, for guys at least, can be pretty messy, esp. Thursday night. Not everywhere though. If you're bladder shy, you can go to isolated bathrooms at different libraries.

I am not currently a drinker, but I do like to dance and I see myself going to the eating clubs to dance and hang out with friends. Will I feel completely uncomfortable there not drinking?

Also.. what do you suggest? Single or double dorms?

For dorms, I highly recommend a quad. Mine is two doubles with a common room, and I love the way it worked out. This way, even if you have one weird roommate, you have two others to hang out with! And if your roommate is studying and you want to go to bed, or vice versa, you can kick them into the common room.

I'm just worried about the bathrooms and shower times w/ so many roommates... is there a way to guarantee fewer people to one bathroom? like should i sign up for a single or double... ? also can we "prefer" a quad on our application?

Over the summer you'll get a housing preference sheet where you can state what kind of room you would prefer. However, you are assigned a residential college before they even look at your sheet. Colleges are set up differently. Rocky/Mathey are primarily quads with some doubles. Wilson has singles and very large suites (up to 10 with their own bathroom). I'm not really sure what Butler will be like next year because they are taking over several upperclass dorms. Forbes is mostly doubles I believe, and Whitman will be singles and quads. Keep in mind these are all generalizations.

As far as bathrooms go, the only place you're going to have your own bathroom within the room is Forbes, large suites in Wilson, or some singles in Whitman. Otherwise they are set up on a communal basis within your hallway or entryway. I really have not had a problem with shower times. My bathroom accommodates almost 20 girls and with two showers, I think I've only been turned away once, and that time I just went downstairs.

Thanks! That was helpful.
