I can agree that blacks face racist situations more often than whites (DUH, that’s obvious) but that doesn’t mean I have to agree that every situation in which a black person heard something unpleasant was due to racism. Sometimes people are just unpleasant and/or dumb regardless of race.
"have allowed for, forgiven, let drop and simply filed away 'til later, many of the dumb, crass, bigoted things that have been said to me by white neighbors, longtime associates, new friends of friends, older white folk, and even one sister-in-law who is one of the most fabulous people I know. "
Plenty of dumb people say stupid things. You don’t think anyone who is Jewish hasn’t heard something stupid? On another thread someone is arguing that “celebrating Christmas doesn’t affect people of other faiths - it brings us all together.” Uh, go tell that to a Hasidic Jew or someone whose family perished in the Holocaust. We all hear stupid things.
Pizza, I realize something has you miffed beyond what I wrote, because I did not say that others do not experience these things. Do not hear that someone is claiming the heavyweight prize for -whatever- when they are saying, “Listen, here’s what has happened to me.”
Pizza, there are many toppings on this pie.
People on Kimmel’s show were saying the solution of our national debt is to kill all the Chinese and the audience thought it was very funny.
Thank you to the poster beginning with R (whose post I have reported and which will hopefully have disappeared by the time anyone reads my post) who has demonstrated the kind of racist jackassery black folks still face from some idiots in this country. L-)
I remembered that and recalled there was an outcry from the Chinese/Asian-American communities and he ended up apologizing:

Say it with me:
Reverse racism does not exist
Reverse racism does not exist
Reverse racism does not exist
Reverse racism does not exist
^^ Are we in elementary school and need to be told what to think??
@CCSenioritis Because unsubstantiated claims about racism are great ways to get people to agree with you. I may or may not agree with you (I like to stay away from discussions like this. Everyone sounds dumber and resorts to kneejerking), but do you really think stating your opinion three times without any evidence or new ideas will get people to agree with you? It worsens and extremifies the conflict, and doesn’t help you in any way. It also makes you sound dumb, and even worse, pretentious.
Woodrow Wilson stays put. Like Oberlin, Princeton did not bow to the nonsense.
The above is exactly what too many liberal students do not get today. Have one idea different than theirs, and they think they have a right to shut you down from speaking or to erase you from history. No so, as history is itself filled with “complexity.”

But wait, I thought higher education was going somewhere in a handbasket from all the handwringing that went on about this in the fall…you mean there was a thoughtful response to this? That students, alumni, administrators all had a say? Speech was “free”, even after protests?
How encouraging that in another decade or two they will be running for president.
They are pulling the mural down, but other than that I am unaware of any real changes being made. As I said way at the beginning of this thread, I think Eisgruber handled this well. Whether this or the recent fizzled protest are stones in the river or the very beginnings of some pushback against the SJW bullies remains to be seen I think.
