Princeton supplement Q5 - is quote+title+author included in the word count?

I apologise if this has been asked before. From past years' posts, most people don't think they should be included in the word count, but I was hoping someone can verify this for me.

I have answered the Princeton supplement 5: "Using a favorite quotation from an essay or book you have read in the last three years as a starting point, tell us about an event or experience that helped you define one of your values or changed how you approach the world. Please write the quotation, title and author at the beginning of your essay."

Is the quote, title and author counted in the word limit? It will be difficult as my those count over 50 words in my essay. I will go over the word limit if I include them.

Thanks for your help!

you paste everything into their box, which counts the words, so yes, it would be counted

Oh ok. Man, that sucks. Thanks!

Yes, it is. I think it’s also their way of making sure you keep your quote short.
