Princeton Supplement

Hi! I am a first year applicant to Princeton for the fall session 2012.
In the Princeton Supplement, there are four prompts one of which is:

Option 4 - Using a favorite quotation from an essay or book you have read in the last three years as a starting point, tell us about an event or experience that helped you define one of your values or changed how you approach the world. Please write the quotation at the beginning of your essay.

I was thinking of using an excerpt from a poem. Do you think it's okay or does it need to be from a book or essay?

I think it will be fine. I used a quotation from a speech so… What’s important is the essay. Good luck.

from mom of Pton admitted student:
Poem is a great idea! Meaning and sensibility are compacted into the most powerful form. I think the admittance folks will appreciate your choice.
Good luck!
