Princeton to ALM at Harvard?

I am about to graduate from Princeton (2011). My goal is law school but I don't think I should apply right away because my GPA is subpar. I've been looking into Harvard Extension School and some other continuing education programs.

On the website it states that many Ivy-League undergrads choose to earn a degree at HES before going on to apply for professional schools...especially with their new program in Legal Studies, and ridiculously affordable tuition--this seems like a killer deal.

Can I hear an ivy-undergrad assessment of the program? Will the Extension name sully my resume/is there really that negative a stigma attached? I really just want a quality education--and also some more time/experience in legal education before I commit to law school... I've heard a few students graduate from HES to go on to top law schools--but do these graduates depend on successful undergrad GPAs, or will their HES experience help?

Anyone's thoughts (non-ivy too) would be appreciated...!

legal studies = bad, as a rule. If you work for a few years, that will make your GPA less important.
