Princeton University - Princeton University offers admission to 7.29 percent of applicants

Just seen this. Holy cow. Good luck everyone.

Talk about making everyone feel more confident?!

Good luck!
Bonne chance!

Thanks for that press release link. It was an enjoyable read and gave me some hope for my daughter!

From the press release:

Nearly half people of color, more 1st generations than legacies, and a strong majority from public schools. Wow!

The 7.29 percent acceptance rate is OVERALL including SCEA. Here is the breakup:

Total Applied: 26498 ; Total Accepted: 1931 ; Acceptance Rate: 7.28%
SCEA Applied: 3810 ; SCEA Accepted: 697 ; Acceptance Rate: 18.29%
RD Applied: 22688 ; RD Accepted : 1234 ; Acceptance Rate: 5.54% <—Yikes , last year 5.90%

Insane. Columbia acceptance 6.89%, 33,531 applications. I wonder what Harvard and Yale will report.

@simplystated1961
Yale
applicants: 29610
Total Number of Admits: 1991
Rate of Admission: 6.7%

Harvard 5.79%… according to a cc post. crazy.

Nothing crazy about these admit rate numbers. The trend is more and more apps arrive each year (occasional blips to the contrary). These admit rate nos. for the “elites” will remain the same or continue to dip for the foreseeable future.

The 48.1% are all non-white students which include Asians as well. By that definition, Berkeley with its ~76% non-white student body has a higher percentage of people of color than Princeton. Strange to think about when Berkeley is race blind while Princeton still practices affirmative action.
